Greg Norman Reappointed as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for 2025–2030
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam has officially reappointed Australian golf legend Greg Norman as Vietnam Tourism Ambassador for the term 2025–2030, continuing his mission to elevate Vietnam’s global standing as a premier destination for international travelers, particularly golf enthusiasts.
Under Decision No. 1746/QD-BVHTTDL, signed on June 11, 2025, by Minister Nguyen Van Hung, Greg Norman will carry forward his ambassadorial responsibilities in accordance with national regulations outlined in Decision No. 738/QD-BVHTTDL dated March 26, 2024.
A two-time Open Championship winner and World Golf Hall of Fame inductee, Norman first took on the role in 2018. His initial term (2018–2021) was widely regarded as transformative for Vietnam’s golf tourism sector. During this period, Norman worked closely with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism to position the country as a world-class golf destination. His efforts helped spark global interest in Vietnamese golf, generating widespread media coverage from leading international outlets such as CNN, CNBC, Golf Magazine, and Australian Golf Digest.
Notable achievements during his previous tenure include the co-production and international broadcast of a promotional video on CNN Asia and CNBC, which showcased Vietnam’s rapidly growing golf infrastructure and natural beauty. Norman was also instrumental in promoting Vietnam’s golf industry during and after the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Vietnam’s commitment to becoming a global golf hub has yielded tangible results. The country was named World’s Best Golf Destination at the World Golf Awards in both 2019 and 2021, affirming its rising stature. New world-class golf courses such as The Bluffs Ho Tram, KN Golf Links, BRG Da Nang Golf Resort, and PGA NovaWorld Phan Thiet have further solidified Vietnam’s appeal to both tourists and professional events.
“Greg Norman’s contributions have been pivotal in linking Vietnam with the global golf community,” said a representative of the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism. “His vision and reputation have brought unprecedented visibility and credibility to Vietnam’s golf tourism efforts.”
As Tourism Ambassador, Norman’s renewed focus will remain on expanding Vietnam’s reach within the international travel and golf tourism markets. His action plan continues to emphasize the promotion of Vietnam as a leading global destination and the attraction of high-profile international golf tournaments to Vietnamese soil.
With this reappointment, Vietnam doubles down on its strategy to harness the global appeal of golf to drive tourism growth and economic development through sustainable and high-value travel experiences.
